Template A RACI Matrix Template Built for Content Teams

RACI Template

Content production moves fast. But when roles aren’t clear, things slow down. Projects get stuck waiting for approvals. Freelancers get pulled in different directions. Content leads spend more time tracking down who owns what than actually executing the work.

This RACI matrix template gives content teams a structured way to assign responsibilities so every project moves forward without unnecessary back-and-forth or delays.

Frequently asked questions

What is a RACI matrix?

A RACI matrix is a single grid that names, for every task in a workflow, exactly one Responsible person (does the work), one Accountable person (signs off), the people who are Consulted (give input before the decision), and the people who are Informed (find out after). Strict version: one accountable per task, no more.

What is a RACI template for content teams?

A pre-built RACI grid that lists the tasks specific to a content workflow (brief, draft, edit, SEO check, legal check, publish, distribution, measurement) and the typical roles that own them (content manager, writer, editor, SEO, distribution lead). You start from the grid instead of from a blank document.

How do you fill in a RACI matrix?

For each row, ask who actually does the work, who has the authority to say “ship it”, whose input is needed before that decision, and who needs to be told after. Resist the urge to put more than one A per row, that is what kills these matrices.

How is a RACI matrix different from a content workflow?

A workflow describes the sequence of steps. A RACI describes who owns each step. You need both. The workflow tells you what happens next, the RACI tells you who is supposed to make it happen.

How often should I update the RACI?

Quarterly, or whenever a person joins or leaves a role. Treat it as part of the quarterly content strategy check-in.
